2.4.5 upgrade to 3.1.1-2 fails

@Lolekbolek wrote:

Greetings!

I am trying to move a journals from OJS 2.4.5 on Ubuntu to 3.1.1-2 in XAMPP on Windows Server 2016 on a test VMWare Workstation. I copied the new OJS files into XAMPP/htdocs/journals, removed the “read only” attribute from the prescribed folders and imported mysqldump into MariaDB.

Server type: MariaDB 10.1.32
Web server: Apache/2.4.33 (Win32) OpenSSL/1.1.0h PHP/7.2.5
PHP extension: mysqli, curl, mbstring

Now, when I run upgrade in a browser, after 45 minutes it shows me:

DB Error: Column ‘user_id’ cannot be null.

After setting “installed” to “on” in config.inc.php, I can see that the journal lost all its visual formatting, but I can login into the admin interface and see that I am still on the same 2.4.5 version. I read through similar upgrade question in the forum, but I am still lost. What should I try to successfully upgrade?

Bellow is the php_error_log:

Problems to send mail (SMTP) on OJS 3.1.1.2

Well, first of all, sorry for post another question about send mails. But, after look for any solution here in this forum and Google, I decided to share this issue, cuz I am gonna crazy.

I simply can´t set up any way to send e-mail trought smpt auth in OJS 3.1.1.2. I tried a lot of workarounds and nothing. So, I asked for my ISP support and them put a PHPMailer form, using SMTP on my host and… voilá… it´s working!

The strange part is because the ISP support used the same login, port and password that I am using in config.inc.php, but in my case it is not working.

I read a lot of posts here, tried a lot of solutions, but still not sending.

Please, if anyone have a light in the end of the tunnel, I will appreciate.

Thank you so much

How to bulk update metadata?

Hi there,

We would like to update bulk update a metadata field for one of our journals and are unsure if this is possible.

We’ve found that the ‘date published’ metadata field for each article is empty and when we submitted these articles to Crossref the xml contained 1970 as the date.

Can I use the xml import/export tool to do this?

I recently started working with OJS

I need some help to know if it´s possible to do what I want to do in the OJS journal

Unfortunately, at my institution we still using the 2.4.8 version of OJS

At this time, I’m having some issues with the date of one of the journal
I will explain,
We digitalized some volumes of an old journal to make available at the OJS, but each volume has fascicles and the date of the volume goes from 1929 until 1935 for example
I need to set up the date like this: volume1 1923 -1926 but in the management of the journal only allow me to set one date and even if I do it manually, write the date, the OJS assume an 0 (zero) in the beginning

I will send some images to show the problem

if I choose this:

This is the result (I have the 0/zero):

I tried like this, it’s not bad:

But in fact I want something like this (I altered the image):

 * - Model classes, which implement PHP objects representing the system's
 *   various entities, such as Users, Articles, and Journals;
 * - Data Access Objects (DAOs), which generally provide (amongst others)
 * update, create, and delete functions for their associated Model classes,
 *   are responsible for all database interaction;
 * - Support classes, which provide core functionalities, miscellaneous common;
 *
 * Additionally, many of the concerns shared by multiple PKP applications are
 * implemented in the shared "pkp-lib" library, shipped in the lib/pkp
 * subdirectory. The same conventions listed above apply to lib/pkp as well.
 *
 * As the system makes use of inheritance and has consistent class naming
 * conventions, it is generally easy to tell what category a particular class
 * falls into.
 *
 * For example, a Data Access Object class always inherits from the DAO class,
 * has a Class name of the form [Something]%DAO, and has a filename of the form
 * [Something]%DAO.inc.php.
