Various javascript errors in OJS 3.1.1-2

$

@simonmitternacht wrote:

Hi,
We are experiencing some JS errors in OJS 3.1.1-2. Seems like they are browser-dependent. None of them are related to any network errors, i.e. only status 200 for all requests. The JS build should be update to date, and browser-caching has been turned off.

  • In the metadata modal for submissions when you click save in Chrome, we get the following error (and an eternal spinner).

      Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token o in JSON at position 1
          at JSON.parse (<anonymous>)
          at Function.n.parseJSON (jquery.min.js:formatted:3706)
          at Object.success (pkp.min.js:formatted:4601)
          at j (jquery.min.js:formatted:1341)
         ...

    Using the Chrome debugger I found out that the problem is that JSON.parse() is sent an object, not a string, in the jQuery method.

  • In Chrome on Windows (Version 69.0.3497.92 (Official Build) (64-bit)), but not on Mac (exactly the same version), clicking “more information” on a submission file opens the modal but the spinner never stops, and no information is shown, we get the same error message in the console as above.

  • In Firefox, sometimes, unpredictably, an unknown API error flashes by and disappears. The JS log shows the following:

      TypeError: b is undefined
      pkp.min.js:315:449
      a.pkp.controllers.modal.ModalHandler.prototype.modalOpen
      https://.../js/pkp.min.js:315:449
      ajaxErrorCallback

Several revision or reviewer files posted in OJS2, only the last one visible in OJS3 after upgrade

@simonmitternacht wrote:

We have recently upgraded OJS from 2.4.8 to 3.1.1.2 but have a problem with revision and reviewer files. A submission will indicate that for example 3 revision files have been submitted (typically a revised manuscript plus cover letter, etc), but when we check the revisions under the Review-tab, there is only 1 file available with a (3) behind the filename. All 3 files are still stored on the server. There are similar problems for reviewer files (see the attached pics). Is there a way to make all files available to editors?

One of our editors customized the email template “Review Request Oneclick” and also added the string {$reviewGuidelines} to it. This string was not originally in the template but can be found in the email template "“Review Request Attached”. However, it does not resolve when the “Review Request Oneclick” email is sent. The receiver sees the verbatim {$reviewGuidelines}. Is it not possible to use this string in any email template other than the ones it was originally shipped with?

Introducing Centre Mersenne

@kara28 wrote:

Hello all

I would like to introduce you the Centre Mersenne (https://www.centre-mersenne.org) recently launched in January 2018.

The Centre Mersenne is an Open Access publishing infrastructure, for all scientific disciplines engaged in open access and using LaTeX to prepare articles.

Peer-review process is one of the Centre Mersenne’s selection criteria. This ensures a state-of-the-art quality-control over the published papers.

We use OJS (today ojs-stable-3_1_1) to manage all the different steps of the editorial workflow : submission, peer-review, copyediting and production, except publication, for which our team developed in-house platform.

Why OJS ? We chose OJS because using a software in Open Source for Open Access seem obvious, also for the dynamic community around OJS.
The modularity of this software, by adding plugins or by the possibility of using only a part of the features convinced us.

We install one instance of OJS per journal, because we often have to develop specific features per journal: for example, a “Section Editor Read Only” role. We also participate in the updates of the French (France) translation.

In the near future, our goal is to reach the number of a dozen journals using OJS 3_1_1.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the PKP team for the excellent work they do.

Regards

Simon

If you are searching for the best nursing care at home around Delhi/NCR then nothing would be better than Curodoc. This company offers the most wonderful service one can ever experience, the reason behind my positive words is because I have got the most comfortable service from them. My wife was pregnant and I urgently needed a good and obedient nurse at home. Hence, I researched the best nursing care at home service and found the name and positive word of mouth about Curodoc. Without any delay, I fixed an appointment with them and they sent their well-trained nurse. The nurse was not just dedicated towards her work but also friendly and humble by nature. We grew a very strong bond. She would take care of everything which a pregnant lady requires like a proper massage, exercise, feeding healthy foods and fruits, she would even take her for a walk, medicines and proper gesture for sitting and sleeping. Everything was done accurately by her. She seemed to be a part of our family. It is well known that a pregnant lady needs a healthy and happy environment, everything around her should be positive and thus, because of Curodoc my wife gave birth to our baby boy without any complications, the nurse helped my wife in keeping her mind positive and happy. I thank them for such a beautiful service. I would suggest the name of Curodoc to all those needy people who are searching for nursing care at home.

Hello,

I tried to modify the custom block plugins (remove some of them and add new ones) and clicked save & continue, but nothing changed. the blocks I tried to remove were still there and the new ones didn’t appear.
The error also occurred when I rearranged the side bar blocks. after I moved some blocks and saved it, nothing happened. then I tried to change the theme, but again, it’s not working at all. there’s no warning sign or whatsoever.
I’ve tried so many times, even with my fellow journal manager account.

Any inputs/ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

OJS - Submission list bug

Hello,

I’m testing OJS for several days. Version is 3.1.1.4.
I’ve found a bug after update from 3.1.1.2. When a new submission is sent, administrator (in the Submissions - My Queue or Unassigned) does not see new submissions (but it is visible for the user who submitted it).
Only the number of submission is shown correctly (for example I’ve sent two papers, and below it is shown “2 of 2 submissions”).
When I open F12 debug console, on the network tab it is correctly shown JSON data for the submissions, and a following JS debug message is shown:

Hello,

I have question regarding migration to a newer version of OJS. We are still working with version 2.4.4.1. but would like to migrate to the newest version. Are there any problems with archive and articles in process (in review, in editing etc.) and user accounts in the system?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tomaz
