Indexer Can’t Access the OAI link
Dear All,
Regarding our journal, we submit it to one of the indexers, but they said that they can’t access the OAI link as follows:
http://ejournal.ppi.id/index.php/oisaa/oai?verb=ListRecords&metadataPrefix=oai_dc&set=oisaa
They mentioned that the error is gateway timeout. On the other hand, I can access it even though it needs a longer time than accessing the journal website. Do you have any suggestions about this problem?

Researchers and Open Access
Dear All,
In a survey conducted by EKT in Greece regarding the needs of SSH researchers, Open Access was recognized by the participants as an essential feature of contemporary science. While Greek researchers recognize the benefits of Open Access, they also point out to the challenges they face when they decide to publish in open access journals. As OA is associated with APC journals, and related costs deemed high, the lack of dedicated institutional funding (in the absence of other funding sources) results in researchers opting for subscription-based journals, thus creating a vicious circle. An issue arising here is that most researchers identify OA with special charges and they are unaware of the existence of OA journals that do not charge APC.
The findings of this survey are in agreement with the ones of the Landscape study on scholarly needs and stakeholders in social sciences and humanities produced in the context of the OPERAS-P Project. Researchers in the Southern and Eastern Europe seem to face similar problems with their colleagues in Greece, although for researchers from Western Europe publishing in open access seems to be an easier task.

- What type of support do you expect from your institution? (Guidance on accessing funding? Guidance on finding appropriate publishing venues? Other?

Native XML Issues Exporting Error - OJS
Hello
I have trying to export issues via Native XML Plugin. Its giving memory limit error
Validation errors:
Memory allocation failed
Memory allocation failed : creating output
Invalid XML:
Could not convert selected objects.
I changed the memory limit to -1 so that there is no limit.
I cannot download all issues (i.e. 44 issues) so I am downloading each issue separately.
Now when i export issue which has 8 article it get downloaded but issues having 16 articles or more dont get downloaded.
It is madatory for me to download issues either separately or wholly.
Please help me.

Email variable (field) for name and affiliation
Hi,
I am using OJS 3.1.2.4, but the version is not really important, the same is elsewhere.
The email templates are using the variable {$editorialContactSignature} that contains info about the current editor. It contains the name and affiliation and also the editor’s email, which I would like to get rid of.
So what is the way to do that? Any other email variable that contains only the editor’s email and affiliation?

OJS 3.3 index load really slow because of getHostByAddr php function
Hi, I found trouble with our OJS 3.3 website, the homepage load very slow, sometimes > 8 sec and of course it’s unacceptable.
We use Apache 2.4, PHP 7.4 FPM and MariaDB, without heavy loaded app there.
And then I activated the php-fpm slowlog feature for any script that need time above 3s to executed.

- What you tried to resolve the issue
The issue in my case is at /lib/pkp/classes/core/PKPRequest::getRemoteDomain line 424. When OJS try to get host name using getHostByAddr function, in my case it doesn’t work nicely in our server.
And to prove it, when I try to change this line:
$remoteDomain = @getHostByAddr($this->getRemoteAddr());
to this
$remoteDomain = 'localhost.dev'; //@getHostByAddr($this->getRemoteAddr());
our OJS website load in less than 2 second.
Do you have any clue for me to fix it?

SQL Output debug switch not working
Hello again,
; Enable database debug output (very verbose!)
debug = On
In previous versions I could use this statement in config.inc.php to see the output of all the SQL queries for any given page, however since upgrading from 2.4 to 3.2 that switch no longer turns on SQL output for any page. Is this expected behavior? Does it matter that I’ve also upgraded my database to MySQL 8?

Email not sending
Hello
I am using OJS. Notification emails are not being sent to email ids having abc@domain.com
whereas notification emails are send to @gmail, hotmail and others.
Also checked spam and other but didn’t received emails via OJS
Please guide

Issues Encountered in Generic plugins
Hi! Can anyone help us solve our problem in our OJS? whenever we try to edit our generic plugins.
This error will always show (Failed ajax request or invalid JSON returned) … we don’t know how to solve it or what causes the problem—especially the custom block manager.
(we don’t have access to the PHP log error of the server, this is just the screenshot from the inspect element)
I hope somebody can help with our problem we badly need it. Thank you so much!

OJS 3 repeated submissions of DOI metadata
My site recently updated from OJS 3.2.1.2.
A reader reported that DOIs were broken; on checking I found the latest issue’s DOIs were pointing to the backup server we used to preserve the old version in case the backup. I took a look at crossref.org and it seems the DOIs were repeatedly sent to their server.
We updated because of other bugs in this release but does anyone know why the DOI deposit plugin would repeatedly resend the metadata?

How to allow Editors to see from their queue which papers are waiting for revisions?
My editors would like to see if they are waiting for revisions/resubmissions from the dashboard without needing to enter each paper individually.
The author’s queue has a notice but I can’t find the place in the code where that is triggered for them but not the editor.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How to Cite uses HTML for closing quotation mark
OJS 3.1.2.1. The “How to Cite” display for an article whose title includes quotation marks is not displaying correctly. Here’s how it looks in APA format (our default and what we use in our journal):
McKee, E. (2021). Where do “localphiles” shop? A mixed-methods case study of food-buying habits. Journal of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Community Development, 10(2), 1–20. https://doi.org/10.5304/jafscd.2021.102.023
It’s the same in every citation format in our list. I’ve copied and pasted the first quotation mark just in case I’d accidentally used a curly quote instead of straight. If I change it to a single quotation mark ( ’ ), it displays correctly. I’ve just checked previously published articles with double quotation marks, and their citation format has the same error. I never noticed it before so I think it’s a new bug.

How to create an article in OJS with executable instance
Hello,
I want to ask if there is any solution to create an article that has an executable instance based on another platform called Stencila.
In other words, the point is to have an static article in OJS and a dynamic version of this article (with code and statics) in Stencila.
Example :
- Static article in eLife magazine: https://elifesciences.org/articles/30274
- Executable version of article: https://elifesciences.org/articles/30274/executable
You can reamark when you read the article that there is a link to switch between the two versions:
The executable version you can run it and it is based on stencila code.
What I want to do is the same, but replacing eLife with OJS.
If there is something unclear, please let me know.

Journal statistics
dear PKP community hope you are good. I got this doubts hopping you can give a solution or an alternative. Well in my journals I want to show for example the statistics of each journal for example:
- Number of articles received in 2020- -
- Number of Articles Published 2020
- Number of Rejected Items 2020
- Estimated rejection rate 2020
is there a plugin or some kind of sql query to get this data from my journal ?
if there is a sql query solution I only need the results not displaying in the journal website, but if there is a plugin that let me get that data and displayed in the journal webste would be awesome. Please hope you can help me with this urgent request. THANKS
